Spires Sweep College of the Ozarks

Point Lookout, Mo.- The University of Saint Mary Volleyball team went to College of the Ozarks for a Friday night matchup, winning in three sets. The Spires are now 10-8 overall.

The Spires had a quick 12-6 lead in the first set against the Bobcats after back-to-back kills From Devyn Ford. Saint Mary continued to keep up their offensive production while limiting the Bobcats, and after a three-point and four-point run, the Spires had a 22-14 lead. Keagan Shockley had two kills at the end to give Saint Mary a 25-17 win.

The Bobcats kept the score closer in the early parts of the second set. Another kill from Shockley gave the Spires a 12-9 lead over College of the Ozarks as they began the middle part of the set. A five-point Saint Mary run that ended with a kill from Ainsley Gardner gave The Spires a six-point lead. Saint Mary continued to apply pressure, and after two errors by the Bobcats, the Spires took set two 25-18 and went up 2-0 overall.

Set three began with a 7-1 run for Saint Mary, which featured three kills from Rylee Kenitzer and Gardner. College of the Ozarks could not match the continuous attack from Saint Mary, who took a big 18-6 lead after a service ace from Haydan Heuermann. Renata Dominguez has the Spire's last two kills to seal the 25-11 win and three-set sweep. On offense, Kenitzer and Shockley had 11 kills apiece, and Heuermann had 24 saves.
